Today's Reading: Psalm 64
David speaks of the evil actions of his enemies. They sharpen their tongues like swords; aim their bitter words like arrows; shoot from ambush at the innocent; attacking suddenly and fearlessly; encourage one another to do evil; plan how to set their traps in secret (v. 1-6)
Yes, human heart and mind are cunning.
Then David speaks about God's response to such evil deeds. Verses 7-10: God himself will shoot them with his arrows, suddenly striking them down. Their own tongues will ruin them and all who see them will shake their heads in scorn. Then everyone will be afraid; they will proclaim the mighty acts of God and realize all the amazing things he does. The godly will rejoice in the Lord and find shelter in him and those who do what is right will praise him.
How are you using your energy today? Are you busy destroying others with your words and actions like the enemies of David or are you acting out of praise to God through your day? Praising God is a much better use of your time and you will find more joy in your day by doing so.
Power Verses:
Ephesians 5:1-2, 15-16
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise. Making the most of the time, because the days are evil.
